THE LEGENDARY HIERACHY

The Creation Trio
Forming the universe, Arceus created three pokemon to help aid in creation of the world.

Dialga, Representing Time
Palkia, Representing Space
Giratina, Representing Antimatter.

Being representation of Antimatter, Legends claim that Giratina appears in cemeteries and that it lives in a world on the reverse side of the human world. It was said to be banished for "violence".

It has since been forgotten from the legends as "one whose name was never to be spoken." While Dialga and Palkia represent time and space, Giratina represents the dimensions besides those of time and space, the desolate void that exists between these planes, and the antimatter that suffuses it.

Giratina is sort of the staple "Satan-esque" charatcter of Pokemon. But Giratina's story can be likened to that of Satan, Lucifer, or Morning Star in Christian Theology.
As a creation of God, we know that Lucifer was created good (Genesis 1:31; Ezekiel 28:13).

We can infer the Giratina was too, created for good. Not many things are created to be purposefully evil in the Pokemon World.

In fact, Scripture asserts that Lucifer started out as “blameless” in all his ways, and as the model of perfection, full of wisdom and perfect in beauty (Ezekiel 28:12-15). Further, God’s ordination of Lucifer as a cherub demonstrates that God trusted Lucifer enough to give him a position of power among the heavenly angels. (Ezekiel 28:14).

Giratina was too given a post of power, being esteemed as part of the Creation Trio, and given stature next to the likes of Arceus himself, and Dialga and Palkia, arguably the two most powerful rulers of creation

However, Lucifer wasn’t satisfied with the power and gifts God gave him. Instead, Lucifer wanted more.
Lucifer became so consumed with pride over his God-given splendor that he became corrupt and violent, no longer willing to serve under God (Ezekiel 28:15-17; Isaiah 14:13-14). This sense of superiority led Lucifer to use his free will to scheme to be greater than God, and ultimately being banished by god; left to his own devices away from God and the other Angels.

Giratina was too banished for his violent ways, left to his own devices he crawled back into the void between Space and Time; being much forgotten and unspoken of by humans in the pokemon world.

Giratina and it's likeness to Satan is very interesting; but whether this dimension-traveling void demon snake is actually representing of morning star, is up to your own personal views.

Compassion
Pokemon and Humans share an intense bond, and the series is based around young humans learning life lessons from their journey with their creature.

Coexisting in a compassionate state with humans, Pokemon are used as tools of battle and destruction by villains in the main narrative.

There is usually a lesson to be learned in the narrative, with compassion always trumping in the end.

THE TEACHERS

Mythical Pokémon are regarded as among the rarest in Pokémon world mythology. Some are seemingly unknown to most people, while others are thought of as stuff of legends. They typically receive minimal exposure during normal gameplay, usually alluded to in vague hints. They are then revealed to players months or years after the debut of their respective generation. Upon being revealed, they are celebrated across the numerous media, often starring in movies and being featured prominently in merchandise.
Not all the Pokemon that I will be examining as religious teacher type characters are classified as Mythical, these Pokemon include the Lake Guardians. The three Pokemon mastered by Arceus himself within the Sinnoh Region.

Commonly referred to as the forest deity, Celebi only shows itself in times of peace.
It is commonly regarded that as long as Celebi can be seen throughout the world, a prosperous and bright future is still in store for the Pokemon world.
Celebi is an important figure in the Johto Region; as it finds it's home in the Ilex Forest. resembling a hokora, a small Shinto shrine, and is referred to as one in the original Japanese version, The shrine sits in the center of Ilex Forest, and is a symbol of good luck and wards off evil spirits. Humans respect the shrine as a shrine to Celebi as they are the guardian of the forest and said to live inside.
